The safety device uses a resilient hollow profile (7) extending between the closure edge and the window frame, coupled to a pressure generating system and to a pressure-responsive switch (10). The latter is operated in response to a pressure variation in the pressure generating system, to cut out the window operating drive. Pref. the pressure responsive switch (10) is coupled to the electronic control (11) for the electric motor (6) allowing the voltage applied to the latter to be reversed when an obstacle is detected in the closure path.
