Variable-speed electric drive for IC engine auxiliaries - introduces difference in rotational speed by motor stator secured to rotary portion of engine

The stator of an auxiliary electric motor is fixed to a rotating part (e.g. crankshaft) of the engine. The rotor is coupled to an auxiliary (e.g. fan or pump) which needs to be driven at a different rate of rotation for efficiency. Current transmission to the motor, both elements of which rotate, is handled by contacts co-operating with its slip rings. USE/ADVANTAGE - Drive unit for e.g. a coolant pump or fan, generator, lubricant pump or mechanical supercharger. Optimally efficiency drive throughout a wide range of engine speeds is achievable without high construction cost.
