The telephone set includes an additional device for storage and display of a subscriber's name. The name is displayed with the short dialling number, or alone, at the time of the call. The name of the subscriber besides the subscriber's number is also stored and the short dialling number or, as required, the subscriber's number or both are display alphanumerically, e.g. by LCD point matrix. The insertion of the letters into the store uses a first key on the telephone key-board to roll the letter forward and a second key to roll the letter backwards. A third key is used to transfer the immediately selected letter of the subscriber's name into store and a fourth key is used to terminate the insertion.
