PURPOSE:To improve heat resistance, mechanical strength, and processability by using a polycarbonate copolymer, having a specified repeat unit in main chain, as a core. CONSTITUTION:A polycarbonate copolymer prepared in a manner to have a repeat unit, represented by a formula I, and a repeat unit, represented by a formula II or III, in a main chain is used. In the formulas I - III, R1 and R2 indicate -(CH2) - k, wherein k indicates 1 or more integral number, and -C(CH3)2-, X1 - X4 indicate a hydrogen atom and a halogen atom, (n) is 0 or 1, and R3 indicates a group represented by a formula IV. This constitution provides a plastic optical fiber which has the high number of apertures, excellent processability and transparency, and is durable to a high temperature. |
