Laid roof sealing webs of soft PVC with of without an overlay contg. a phthalic ester as plasticiser and depleted in plasticiser due to external effects are restored by (A) cleaning the surface of the web and (B) applying to the surface of the web, taking any residual plasticiser into consideration, 100-500 g of a plasticiser paste per m2 web in at least 1 application. The paste contains a 4-13 alcohol (mixt) phthalate and/or esters of adipic, azelaic, phosphoric or sebacic acid and/or phenol or cresol alkyl sulphonates and contains additionally 1-50, pref. 3-5 wt.% thixotropy agent and thickener. The thixotropy agent and thickener is pref. E- and/or S-PVC and/or acrylate, amorphous and/or pptd silicic acid and/or natural silicate and/or converted silicate. The paste also contains pigments, esp. C black, as well as stabilisers and/or UV absorbers and/or biocides. The paste can be applied by e.g. a rubber doctor. The web is protected during the restoration process.
