The roller assembly (100) has a hollow roller (1) turning round an operating-roller periphery through the length of which goes a non-rotary transverse head (3), leaving a gap between it and the hollow rollers (1) inner periphery (4). Hydrostatic supports in rows along the transverse head (3) are displaced radially, under the pressure of pressurised fluid, on at least one piston/cylinder unit. On their surface (24) in contact with the hollow roller (1) inner periphery (4) are pockets. A supply-unit (V) feeds the compressed-fluid pipes (46) to each support (14, 14`) joined by throttle-ducts to the pockets and comprises a single pump. An adjacent throttle comes after the branch of the feed-pipe (36) for the cylinder-chamber. USE/ADVANTAGE - The roller is more easily hydraulically supplied by a pump feeding a constant amount of pressurised fluid.
