摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate a switching means and to enhance driving efficiency of motor by performing single wheel driving for a small accelerator opening whereas performing both wheel driving for a large accelerator opening of an electric automobile having right and left wheels to be driven individually. CONSTITUTION:An ECU 18 provides torque command values TL, TR for left and right motors to left and right inverters 16-L, 16-R according to the accelerator opening 9 of an electric automobile. The left and right inverters 16-L, 16-R invert DC power of a battery 14 into three-phase AC power and drives left and right motors 12-L, 12-R individually thus rotating left and right wheels 10-L, 10-R. When the accelerator opening theta is larger than 0 but smaller than a predetermined value theta1, i.e., 0<theta<theta1, the ECU 18 drives only the left or the right wheel whereas the ECU 18 drives both wheels when theta>theta1. According to the constitution, switching mechanism between single wheel drive and both wheel drive is eliminated and the motor efficiency is enhanced in a region requiring low torque.
