[Also in Division C3] The invention comprises polymers of formula where R is alkylene, cycloalkylene, alkenylene, arylene, aralkylene, alkarylene or a divalent heterocyclic group and n is an integer. The polymers are prepared by reacting a compound X-R-X, where X is a halogen atom or a group derived from an ester of a carboxylic acid, with a metal perthiocyanate. In Examples a cyclic trimer is obtained by reacting sodium perthiocyanate with 1,4-dibromobutane. |
