Furnace for the combustion of solids, waste materials, other residues - and the recovery of heat energy

In a two-stage furnace in which solid wastes are burned a solids separator is located after the prim. section in which materials are pyrolysed or calcined. The solids so sepd. are then sorted to recover materials for possible re-use and the materials recovered but unwanted are then returned via one or more jet inlets to the second-stage furnace for melt-down or final combustion. The second-stage furnace is heated in part at least by hot gases produced by the primary furnace and the second-stage furnace incorporates a raised basin for the collection of molten materials. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process and assembly serves to destroy, recover and facilitate the safe disposal of waste materials as appropriate, and recover heat energy.
