A heater resistance in the form of a strip of e.g. Ni-Cr 80-20 alloy with Fe, is shaped into a die and mounted in a water cooled holder in the lower jaw of portable welding pliers in whose upper jaw is a press punch with a rounded end pressed into the die by a pneumatically operated sliding wedge. All controls are in a fixed cabinet and there are separate leads and pipes for welding current, compressed air, cooling water and control signals. Equipment is esp. useful for wires with high temp. resistant insulation and 0.15-1.00 mm2 cross-section. |
