PURPOSE:To accurately obtain the area and the position of center of gravity of an object by estimating the rate possessed by the object within a single picture element by means of a gradation image. CONSTITUTION:By estimating the rate possessed by the object within the picture element by means of the gradation image, the area and the position of center of gravity of the object are obtained. When, assuming that the background and the object have a equal value of density, the density values for the background and the object are assumed, by obtaining the rate of the area possessed by the object within the picture element from the density value for the picture element when the area of X% of the picture element is possessed by the object, the area possessed by the object within the picture element can be obtained. By utilizing the obtained area, the area and the position of the center of gravity of the object are obtained. Thus, the area and the position of the center of gravity can be obtained more accurately than by utilizing a binarized image. |
