The supercooled liquid helium in the first chamber of the cryostat (4) is arranged with a temp. of less than 4.2 K. The cryostat has at least one further chamber, which contains a liquid helium standing at atmospheric pressure with a temp. of about 4.2 K. The first chamber (1) is connected with the second chamber (2) in such a way, that the supercooled liquid helium found in the first chamber is also at atmospheric pressure, and the first and at least a second chamber (1, 2) together form a divided tank. The first chamber arranged with the supercooled liquid helium is arranged underneath the further chamber (2) with the helium of 4.2 K. The first chamber is separated from the further chamber by a heat insulating barrier (10), and the barrier consists of at least two plates (12, 13), which are separated by a vacuum. USE/ADVANTAGE - NMR magnetic system. Electrical entry to magnetic coil is considerably simplified. No vacuum passage is required and specific helium consumption is considerably reduced compared to known supercooled systems.
