A liquid built detergent composition comprises a substantially anhydrous organic liquid phase comprising a water-miscible organic solvent having uniformly distributed therein a non-ionic surfactant and an alkali metal salt of an anionic surfactant acid which contains one or more sulphonic acid groups, said organic phase having dispersed therein a finely divided particulate builder.
