A drag-line device for conveying bulk materials, in particular building materials for loading a distributor device for concrete preparing apparatus, in which the materials to be added are stored in storage places arranged sectorwise around the distributor device and are heaped up against the same comprises a boom 6 articulated on a rotatable chassis 5 and a bucket 8 arranged for automatic operation. Position I of the bucket 8 shows the conveying strokes under the action of a traction cable 9 which is independent of a return cable 10, each cable being received on a separate drum 18, 20, respectively. The drum 18 is fixed to a shaft 17 on which the drum 20 is freely rotatable, but it may be coupled thereto through a coupling 19. The free movement of the return drum 20 is braked by a follower brake 24, so that the return cable 10 is kept taut during the conveying stroke, coupling 19 being disconnected. The work range of the bucket 8 is controlled by a switch with a spindle 29 driven by a chain drive 31 from the shaft 17 and switch cams 30 co-operating with end switches 32. The position of the end switches 32 may be adjusted by handles 33. On the return stroke, position II, the drum 20 is coupled to the shaft 17 for rotation with the drum 18, through the coupling 19 while the bucket 8 is conveyed back to the tip of the boom 6. Lowering of the bucket 8, position III, is under gravity, coupling 19 being disconnected, the free fall being braked by a lowering brake 25.
