摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To improve the extraction and separation of mercury in a remarkably high extent compared with conventional methods by employing a specific alkyl thiol compound as a mercury-extracting agent in aqueous solutions. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous phase containing mercury is brought into contact with an organic solvent phase containing an alkyl thiol of formula I (R<1>, R<2> and R<3> are >=2C alkyl, cycloalkyl, (substituted) aryl or (substituted)aralkyl) as a mercury-extracting reagent to extract the mercury from the aqueous phase into the organic solvent phase. When the concentration of chloride ions is high, the mercury can be efficiently extracted with 2-ethyl(2-isobutylthiomethyl) butanethiol as the alkyl thiol compound.</p>
