An optical fibre cable comprises a core (1) and individual optical fibres (3) at least partially embedded in the surface (1A) of the core in such a way that the fibres can be easily tapped or withdrawn without breakage, in order to inject and/or detect the presence of optical power. Such a cable can be used for non-intrusive taps in an optical fibre transmission network.
