PURPOSE:To improve melt damage resistance, comprising a given amount of spherical SiC having specific particle diameters. CONSTITUTION:SiC fine powder close to spheres having 50-500nm particle diameters is prepared by a vapor-phase reaction. Then, clay is mixed with Al2O3 fine powder, SiO2 fine powder and a binder such as Al2O3 cement to give refractory, which is mixed with 1-15wt.% of the spherical SiC fine powder to give dense refractory having excellent melt damage resistance. |
