THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING MATERIAL AND IMAGE FORMING METHOD USING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording material obtaining an yellow dye image excellent in spectral characteristics, heat resistance and fixing properties by providing a layer containing a specific yellow dye on a support. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording material is obtained by providing a thermal layer containing an yellow dye represented by general formula [I] on a support. The content of the yellow dye in the thermal layer is pref. 0.1-20g per 1m<2> of the support. The thermal layer is formed by dissolving one or more kind of the yellow dye in a solvent along with a binder or dispersing the same in the solvent in a fine particulate form to prepare the paint for forming the thermal layer or preparing said paint by a hot-melt method and applying the paint to the support to dry the paint layer. The thickness of the thermal layer is pref. 0.1-5mum as a dry film. The thermal layer of the thermal transfer recording material is superposed on an image receiving material and the heat corresponding to image data is applied to the thermal transfer recording material to form an image on the image receiving material by the chelate dye formed by the reaction of a metal ion and the dye in the thermal layer.
