<p>A rosin size compn. contng. 0.1-15%, pref. 0.5-5%, based on the size, of an olefin terpolymer having pendant amide and carboxylic groups. To give papers of improved properties. The pref. terpolymers have 2-20 carboxylate grps. and 2-20 amide grps., but pref. less than 25 comonomer units, per 100 units having the structure CnH2n. The monomes include C2-6 olefins, acrylic monomers CH2=CR-COOR' and acrylamides CH2=CR-CONR2 where R and R' are H or C1-16 alkyl. These sizes are added to the beater and pptd. onto the paper with alum or another mordant.</p> |
