<p>Hyndarin hydrochloride is prepd. by extracting Stephania glabra tubers with xylol in the presence of ammonia soln., and working up the mixture with H2SO4 and isolating the end product. The NH4OH and H2SO4 are used to give a pH 4.8-5.3, to enable extraction with the xylol. The solvent is evaporated and the product dissolved in methanol, which is then acidified with aq. HCl and the hydrochloride pptd. Has tranquillising effect on CNS.</p> |
