PURPOSE:To improve an error ratio with the prevention of errors in recording or erasing and damage to a recording medium by performing a recording, erasing or reproduction on specified conditions aside from information to be recorded before the recording of information to obtain information pertaining to a temperature of a magnetooptical recording medium from a magnetooptical reproduction signal obtained by altering recording conditions. CONSTITUTION:A magnetooptical recording medium undergoes a recording, erasing and/or reproduction of information on specified conditions aside from information to be recorded before the recording of the information on the magnetooptical recording medium to obtain information pertaining to the temperature of the magnetooptical recording medium from the resulting magnetooptical reproduction signal and recording conditions are altered based on the temperature information obtained. In this manner, information related to the temperature of the recording layer (magnetic layer) of the recording medium affecting the recording conditions is examined directly to allow accurate monitoring of the temperature of the recording medium. This enables correction of the recording conditions almost perfectly thereby improving error ratios with the prevention of errors in recording and erasing and damage to the recording medium even in a case especially susceptible to effect by temperature. |
