PURPOSE:To enable the obtaining of a better recording/reproduction characteristic by specifying an average roughness at the center line of a surface desired to form a recording layer of a base film in an optical tape that allows recording and reproduction of information optically. CONSTITUTION:Average roughness is set below 50Angstrom at the center line of a surface desired to form a recording layer on a base film of an optical tape which has the base film and a recording layer provided thereon and allows the recording and reproduction of information optically. Material herein used for the base film is a resin such as polyethylene terephthalate, polyimide, polyvinyl chloride or polycarbonate. Thickness of the base film is about 1-100mum in general. Thus, a recording layer is formed on the base film with the center line average roughness of below 50Angstrom to lower the noise level in the recording and reproduction by an optical type recording/reproduction system thereby enabling the obtaining of a better recording/reproduction characteristic. |
