Herbicidally active quinoxaline derivatives of general formula: (I) wherein: X represents a halogen atom; and R represents a group selected from , -CH=CH-COO-C1-4 alkyl and -COR1, wherein R1 represents a group selected from , -O-(CH2)2SCH3, -O-(CH2)2-N(CH3)2 and -NHR4, wherein R4 represents a group selected from C1-4 alkoxy carbonylalkyl, hydroxy alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy alkyl and di-C1-4 alkyl amino.
