<p>PURPOSE:To effectively prevent melting loss and cracking in a DPF that may be caused by regeneration processes by providing a regenerating electric heater which is built with a jacket and is made to confront the upstream side of a diesel particulate filter. CONSTITUTION:A diesel engine is equipped with a jacket 1 over the whole length of an exhaust pipe of the diesel engine, a DPF 2 which is built in the jacket 1, and a regenerating electric heater 3 which is installed together with the jacket 1 and is made to confront the upstream side of the DPF 2. As a heater wire 32 of the regenerating electric heater 3 contacting with the DPF 2 is heated gradually by natural convection up to about 800 deg.C, an insulating stay terminal 33 is also gradually heated by natural convection up to about 800 deg.C through insulating stays 33 which support the heater wire 32. This permits regeneration processes to perform sufficient regeneration irrespective of the quantity of seized particulates, and also prevents the DPF from melting loss and cracking that may be caused by the regeneration processes.</p> |
