PURPOSE:To obtain the title fiber suitable for industrial material, etc., having high strength and excellent hot water resistance in a short time and simply by attaching a specific surfactant and a specific collecting and smoothing agent to PVA-based fiber in a period from spinning to just before dry heat drawing and drawing at high temperature. CONSTITUTION:PVA-based fiber having >=3,000 viscosity-average polymerization degree, in a process from spinning to just before dry heat drawing, is provided with (A) 0.2-3wt.% surfactant selected from a phosphate amine compound, an amine or amide phosphate compound, an amine or amide sulfonate compound and a thio compound and (B) 0.2-3wt.% ester-based or mineral oil-based collecting and smoothing agent and drawn at >=240 deg.C at >=17 times total draw ratios to give the objective fiber having hot water rupture temperature WTb ( deg.C) under 200mg/d load satisfying the formula (PA is viscosity-average polymerization degree of PVA--based polymer and >=3,000). |
