The dispenser cathode is produced by storing the first pellet (1) composed of Ba-Ca-aluminate and tungsten (W) to the CUP (2), putting the second pellet (4) composed of tungsten (W) and Ir (or Os) on the pellet (1), and forming the alloy-coated layer (5) of 50-20000 angstrom thickness on the pellet (2). The pellet (2) is obtained by mixing tungsten (W) with 20-50 wt.% Ir or Os, press-molding the mixt., and sintering it under the vacuum or H2 atmosphere. The cathode is used for the mfr. of a long life CRT.
