PURPOSE:To form a flat gap surface while obtaining excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics even when the title head is subjected to high- temperature processing by substantially composing a conductor layer forming a coil of a Cu-Ag alloy. CONSTITUTION:At least a magnetic layer, a conductor layer forming a coil and an insulating layer are formed on a substrate in film-formation and specified shape, and the conductor layer substantially consists of a Cu-Ag alloy. It is favorable that Cu100-xAgx, 0.1<=x<=10 holds in an atomic composition ratio in the composition formula of the conductor layer. The irregularities of a gap surface are extended gradually with the reduction of Ag of the conductor layer from 0.1 atomic % (at %), and it is particularly preferable that there is 1-6at.% Ag in the conductor layer. Accordingly, the flat gap surface can be formed without using a reactive gas, and a thin-film magnetic head capable of resisting even high-temperature processing and having excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics can be acquired. |
