Gaseous fluids such as aerosols or oil-mists have contaminating particles sepd. and removed while moving through a casing holding separator surfaces of large area. The surfaces are formed as profiles whose curved edges form oppositely facing projections intermeshed with each other. From an intermediate point or points in each curve, reinforcing ribs with a beaded cross-section project radially towards the curve centre, forming sub-chambers wherein the fluid is alternately accelerated and decelerated, the assembly of sepg. profiles may be fixed or rotary. If of cuboid all-over shape, the assembly is in a corresp. shaped casing, while an assembly of triangular cross-section is held in a cylindrical casing.
