The recorder incorporates a decoder of the transmitted recognition signal which switches a video program system (VPS) controller linked by a changeover switch to a comparison stage. This is fed with date and time signals related to a preselected transmission, using a keyboard. Reception of the recognition signal causes the comparison stage to switch-on the recorder, and immediately or within e.g. 1 second to reset the changeover switch, causing a real-time clock to take over control from the VPS signal.
