The thin film magnetic head has a lozenge shape with a magnetic base and cover (2) that have the same plan surface profile that has a part circular section (8) and tapered sides (9, 10). A circular section (3) provides a contact region between the two. Between the two magnetic elements is a cavity through which the windings of the coil (5) pass. - The optimum form for maximum efficiency is fixed in relation to the angle (X), distance to contact point (P) and the number of windings.
