Composite electrode for resistance welding is made of a good electrically conducting basic body (1) with a coating or tip (2) of good mechanically and thermally resistant material which forms the point of contact with the workpiece. The two parts (1,2) are welded together by diffusion welding (3). ADVANTAGE - The electrode has good electrical and mechanical properties which lead to a longer working life and improved welding properties as the tip is not worn away with time as in the prior art Cu-Cr electrodes.
