A copy command code is stored in a memory (3), and then, the existence or absence of papers is confirmed. Then the state of text paper is checked, and then, a copying operation is performed, the end position of the text paper being sensed by means of first and second sensors (22)(24). Then the number of copies as stored in the memory (3) is compared with the counted number of copies as stored in a counter memory (2). If the two values are equal to each other, the text paper is ejected, while if the latter is smaller than the former, the copying operation is continued, until the two values become equal to each other. Then the text paper is ejected, and a checking finds to whether there remains another text paper to resume the copying operation.
