The network has its switching centre (FV1) continuously following the number of mobile radio telephones (M1,M2) in its radio cells (FZ1,FZ2). If a given max. number is exceeded the excess mobile telephones are assigned to adjacent cells. The assignment of excess cells depends on geographic and topological circumstances in the area. The number of radio telephones already in an adjacent area is monitored and taken into account during assignment.
