The generator (10) is provided with an outer tube (12) and an inner tube (16) coaxially arranged therein. The compressed gas-generating charge is accommodated in the inner tube (16) and is triggered by a triggering unit. This generator (10) is sealed in a gas-tight manner at its ends by sealing lids (28) which are laterally surrounded by the end sections (32) of the outer tube (12). In each case one recess (38) for receiving the ends of the inner tube (16) are formed on the inside of the sealing lids (28). The recesses (38) hold the inner tube centred in the outer tube (12). The lid (28) is also provided with a circumferential groove (46) into which inner projections (44) which are directed inward and formed by multiple notching by means of a notching tool (47) engage and are arranged themselves on the inner circumferential face of the outer tube (12) in its end sections (32). ……
