The automated process for supplying rolls of paper in a printing works incorporates one of several rotary presses (1) on which a paper-roll is kept ready in a stand-by unit (14) corresp. to each rotary press (1). The paper-roll is supplied to a paper-guide (4). WHen the number of paper-rolls waiting in a given stand-by unit (14) drops below a min. figure, a paper-roll mounted in an automated correspondingly-sized storage-compartment or magazine (11) is conveyed to the stand-by unit (14) following a command from a production-control system. ADVANTAGE - The stages in the production process of supplying rolls of paper to a printer are automated, so that a given number of paper rolls is always ready in each stand-by unit.
