High pressure seal between flanges and plates - seals pressures of over thousand atmospheres with groove adjoining plates to hold seal

The component part has at least two facing surfaces, a pressurised fluid chamber and an interposed seal wherein it is possible to seal against pressures of over 1000 atmospheres. The component can be used as a sealing assembly in a flange connection, a high pressure unit, a pump or on plates. A groove can be provided in one of the two adjoining plates to hold the seal whereby a sealing ring placed in the groove presses against a surface locally raised from one of the plates.
