<p>PURPOSE:To set an optimum valve-opening timing by installing an electromagnetic actuator between an opening/closing valve and a valve lifter. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic actuator A is installed between a valve 5 for opening and closing an intake port or an exhaust port 3 relative to a combustion chamber 2 and a valve lifter 17. The electromagnetic actuator A consists of a retainer 9 made of a magnetic material and an electromagnet body 25, and attracts the retainer 9 to hold the valve 5 at a valve-closing position when the electromagnet body 25 is energized. The opening and closing timing of the valve can be controlled variably, and an optimum valve-opening timing can be thus set.</p> |
