PURPOSE:To obtain the title monoester useful as drugs, etc., under a mild condi tion by ready operation and in good selectivity by hydrolyzing a benzenedicarboxylic acid diester with a partially purified product of an enzyme derived from a fungus. CONSTITUTION:A benzenedicarboxylic acid diester or a derivative thereof is hydrolyzed by using an enzyme derived from a fungus or a culture solution containing the enzyme or cells or a partially purified product of the enzyme extracted therefrom to give a corresponding monoester or a derivative thereof. For example, a benzenedicarboxylic acid diester shown by the formula (R<1> is 1-8C alkyl; R<2> is H, amino, etc.), etc., is reacted with a fungus such as Rhodotorula minuta at pH 5-10 at 10-45 deg.C for 0.5-24 hours. |
