1291288 Push-button switches; interlocking switches GLOBE-UNION Inc 14 Jan 1970 [12 May 1969] 1887/70 Heading H1N A ganged modular push-button switch assembly comprises a plurality of switching modules 10, each module having at least one pair of fixed contacts and including a slider bar 26 carrying at least one contact member for bridging the fixed contacts, mounting bracket means 12, 14, secured to at least one extremity of each module for supporting the modules in a predetermined spatial relationship, and cam portions 30 attached to, or integral with, respective sliders 26 for co-operation with a plurality of laterally-slidable lockout segments 20 to prevent simultaneous operation of more than one slider 26. As shown in Fig. 1, the Y-shaped portion 40 takes up the play between segments 20 when a slider 26 is depressed and thereby prevents depression of any other slider until the depressed slider has been released. Known interlock means 16 may be provided. The cam configurations 30 may be formed on the front end of sliders 26 to co-operate with segments 20 accommodated in the front support bracket 12 (Fig. 6, not shown), the rear support 14 may then be omitted allowing modules 10 to be of different lengths. In the modification of Fig. 7 the cam portion may be diamond-shaped as at 62, thus preventing simultaneous depression of more than one button but not requiring release of a depressed button before another may be depressed; this is of particular use where the modules are of the push-push type. If the cam configurations are as shown at 70 in Fig. 8 the segments 20 are moved on one side only of a depressed slider and thus depression and release of buttons must be in sequential order. |
