PURPOSE:To obtain a polarizing plate polarzing the light efficiently by collecting the incident light into a stripe shape consisting of bright sections and dark sections with nearly the same width, separating the light sent out from the bright sections into longitudinal waves and transverse waves, and refracting the light on one side to change the dark sections into bright sections. CONSTITUTION:When the nearly parallel light from a light source is fed to a lens sheet 1, projections of the sheet 1 collect the incident light to form bright sections and dark sections with nearly the same stripe width, the light is fed to a lens sheet 2, the light collected by recesses is sent out from only the bright sections at nearly the same outgoing angle as the incident angle, and the light is fed to a double- refracting plate 3 as stripes of the bright sections and dark sections. When the stripe light is fed to the double-refracting plate 3, the longitudinally polarized light proceeds straightly as the normal light, the transversely polarized light is refracted slantly downward, and the light is sent out from the double-refracting plate 3 when the abnormal light changes the dark sections into the bright sections. The polarized light in the longitudinal and transverse directions enters a composite plate 4, the normal light is fed to a half-wavelength plate 4b, the abnormal light is fed to transparent plastic 4b, and all the input light is polarized in the transverse direction and sent out. |
