The invention concerns a hanging scaffold 1 consisting of a support surface 2 and an arm 3 extending upwards from this support surface, and intended to cooperate with a cable 4, 4a, 4b, with a first attachment 5 or pulley above the hanging scaffold 1 and a guide 6 or pulley at the upper free section 3a of the arm 3, and generally a second attachment 7 below the said guide 6, means 8 being provided to raise and lower the hanging scaffold 1 by changing the distance between the said guide 6 and the said first attachment 5 with the aid of a mechanism 8 acting on the cable 4. According to the invention, the distance H between the said support surface 2 and the upper free section 3a of the arm must be able to be decrease when the said upper free section 6 is in cooperation with the said first attachment 5 and measures are taken to raise the hanging scaffold further. The said arm 3 consists of a bar or a tube which is torsionally rigid relative to the support surface and can be displaced in at least two bearing members 11, 12 fixed relative to the said support surface 2. Between the bar 3 and the support surface 2, or other fixed part, there is a spring member 14 holding the bar 3 in a position away from the support surface 2, which spring member 14 is compressed when the bar 3 is pressed downwards by an external force, and, when the external force ceases, the bar 3 once again assumes an upwardly directed position. <IMAGE> |
