PURPOSE:To dispense with the arrangement of light emitting elements over the whole width in the longitudinal direction of an image carrier and record the digital information at the upper section and lower section of a sheet by providing a character writing unit. CONSTITUTION:When characters are digitally recorded with a character writing unit 18, if the preset input is entered via an action section, a pulse motor 89 is driven, a shutter 85 is rotated downward, and part of an analog exposure section is shielded. A shade section is formed on a photosensitive drum 20, light is radiated from an LED array 82 into the character pattern to be written, and a latent image of characters is formed. A document is vertically reversed, its lower side is set to the positioning standard of a document bed, and characters and the position are specified via the action section. The data of the character pattern on a memory fed to the array 82 are transferred in the opposite order to that for a header, and the character pattern is reversed as compared with that for the header. |
