A bracket loader comprises a pair of buckets 11, 17 having similar load capacities and mounted at the respective ends of the loader whereby they tend to balance each other. The bucket 17 forms part of a detachable assembly 12 and it may be used for bulldozing. A bulldozer blade may be provided. The body of the loader can oscillate laterally relative to the ground wheels adjacent the assembly 12 but to prevent such oscillation when the assembly is being used hydraulic cylinder and ram devices which connect the body with the axle carrying the wheels have their corresponding ends interconnected by conduits with a valve being provided to prevent transfer of fluid between the cylinders.
