PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF FLAME RETARDANT POLYESTER

A fire retardant polyester is produced by (A) polycondensing diol and dicarboxylic acid or its ester, and (B) adding 2.0-4.0 wt.% phosphorus fire retardant composition with respect to the reaction product. The fire retardant composition comprises at least one of formula (I), (II) and (III). In the formulas, R1 and R2 are each C1-8 aliphatic hydrocarbon, and R3 and R4 are each halogen atom. The polyester has a good fire retardancy, spinning property and heat resistance.
