The invention relates to a card index device comprising a box (10) and at least one pivoting plate (12) that can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction (L) of the box. The box comprises, on the bottom or near it, at least one rod [section] which extends along the longitudinal direction (L) and passes through a passage (24) in the pivoting plate, this passage being formed in such a way that it enables the pivoting plate, standing approximately in the line of a plane (38) perpendicular to the direction (L), to move transversely and be locked. The invention also relates to a box for the card index and a corresponding pivoting plate.
