[Also in Division B8] A frame 3 which supports conveyer rollers 1 is raised and lowered by horizontally movable wedges 8, each resting on a roller 9 mounted on a stationary member 19. The upper surfaces of the wedges engage rollers 10 mounted on the frame 3 and a device 14 provides longitudinal fine adjustment of the wedges on reciprocable rods 7. Rollers 5 on the member 19 support a rail or workpiece 11 when the rollers 1 are lowered. Fig. 2 (not shown) indicates how the direction in which a load is conveyed may be changed when the load engages rollers (1) or (5). The axes of the rollers may be rotated relative to the member 19 to further vary the change in direction of conveyance. In place of the rollers 1 or 5 respectively, plungers or the like may be used to raise the load off the other rollers. |
