METHOD FOR MONITORING PHB STORAGE CHANGE OF ACTIVATED SLUDGE

PURPOSE:To easily motor the PHB storage change inactivated sludge by culturing the activated sludge contg. many kinds of microorganisms under the conditions of limiting nitrogen sources and measuring the turbidity of the culture solution at 660(nm) wavelength. CONSTITUTION:The activated sludge contg. many kinds of the microorganisms are cultured under the conditions of limiting the nitrogen sources and the turbidity of the culture sol. thereof is measurement at 660(nm) wavelength. The PHB storage change in the activated sludge is monitored by estimating the PHB storage change. The accumulation of the PHB is recognized simply by sampling the culture sol. and measuring the absorbance as it is. Then, the optimum control of the operation and limitation system of the culture tank is easily executed while the accumulated quantity of the PHB is measured.
