A superconductive alloy consists of Nb 3 Al having 2-25 molar per cent of the Al replaced by one of B, Ga, In and one of N, P, As, Sb. Specific examples: - (I) Nb 3 Al 0 . 9 Ga 0 05 AS 0.05, (II) Nb 3 Al 0 85 Ga 0 075 AS 0. 075 , (III) Nb 3 AI c .9 Ga 0. 05 Sb 0. 05, (IV) Nb 3 Al 0. 9 In 0. 05 P 0. 05, (V) Nb 3 Al 0 85 In 0.1 AS 0.05. The alloy is made by pressing a mixture of the powdered components, melting the resulting pellet in an inert atmosphere, directing a jet of inert gas against the melt to form a spray, and splattering the spray against a surface kept at below 400‹ C. so as suddenly to freeze the spray. The frozen spray is preferably annealed at 550‹ -800‹ C.
