Mattress in which the springy flexible structure is formed by a cushion filled with a liquid and situated within a cavity defined by an open frame consisting of blocks of a flexible material (foam). According to the invention: - the foam frame consists of an assembly of four blocks (8a,8b,9a,9b) of trapezoidal or rectangular cross-section, the end faces of two of these blocks (9a,9b) being fitted flush against the corresponding inner faces of the other two blocks (8a,8b), the blocks being joined together by bonding; - peripheral strengthening means are provided for said frame; and - a board (or intermediate cover) surrounds the aforesaid foam frame and is bonded to it. <IMAGE>
