<p>A window assembly has a sash (11) vertically movable within a window jamb (13) and positionned in the jamb (13) by elongated side guide tubes (90) enclosing counter balance means (110) and resiliently biased partially into engagement with side ploughs (35) of said sash, with the guide tubes extending outwardly from channels (82) provided in opposed side jamb members. The guide tubes (90) prevent lateral displacement of the sash as the sash is positioned within and moves from a window open to a window closed position within the plane of the jamb. The guide tubes (90) can be reciprocally and resiliently compressed into the channel (82) to release the ploughs (35) and sash (11) whereby the sash (11) can be removed from the window construction.</p> |
